Privacy Policy
The short version: One Turn has no accounts, no ads and no tracking cookies, and we don't sell or share personal information. Here's exactly what happens when you visit.

Stored on your own device
Your browser keeps a few things in its local storage so the site works the way you left it: your settings (such as topics you follow, your start view and time format), which days you've seen (to mark stories that are new since your last visit) and small display choices. If you install One Turn or visit again, your browser may also keep a copy of the site and recent editions so it loads quickly and works offline. This stays on your device; we never receive it. You can clear it at any time with Reset settings in Settings or by clearing your browser's site data.
What our host sees
One Turn is served by GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub receives your IP address and basic request details (such as browser type) when your browser loads the site, and may keep them briefly in server logs for security and reliability. We don't receive or use these logs. See GitHub's privacy statement for details.
Services your browser contacts
- Planet view. When you open it, your browser fetches live data directly from the US Geological Survey (earthquakes) and GDACS (other natural hazards), so those services see your IP address, as with any website.
- Links you follow. When you open a news article or data source, you leave One Turn and that site's own privacy policy applies.
Fonts and everything else the site needs, including the visit-counting script, are served by One Turn itself.
Your location
The Near me button in the Planet view asks your browser for your location, only when you press it. It's used on your device to show what's near you and is never sent to us or anyone else.
What we don't do
- We don't use cookies for tracking or advertising, and we don't show ads.
- We don't sell, rent or share personal information, and we don't build profiles of visitors.
- Because we don't track you, “Do Not Track” and Global Privacy Control signals are respected automatically.
Children
One Turn isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example in some US states, the EU or the UK), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information about you. The only personal information we could hold is anything you send us by email; write to OneTurnNewsContact@protonmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
If this changes
If One Turn adds accounts or paid features, this policy will be updated before they launch to explain what's collected and why. The date at the top shows the latest version.
